Seeking Historical Information
The Heart of Lubbock Neighborhood has lots of pictures to show and stories to tell--and the neighborhood association thinks it's time they were gathered up in one place.
Some longtime residents have been out taking photographs of Heart of Lubbock's varied and distinguished homes--everything from mansions and small cottages in styles ranging from traditional to Spanish to contemporary. Now the neighbors want to put the pictures into a book along with notes about the square-mile bounded by 19th and 34th Streets, Avenue Q, and University Avenue.
They're asking residents, former residents, or anyone else to send in historical information and anecdotes about homes and events in Heart of Lubbock. They will combine them with any available research about the Neighborhood and try to have a publication ready before the year is out.

UPDATE
We’re still gathering pictures and information about Heart of Lubbock---and trying to sort out the stacks we’ve collected already---but we’ve expanded the deadline. Instead of trying to get a little book ready for Christmas, we’re aiming at next spring---because we’ve discovered that Heart of Lubbock will be celebrating its 100th anniversary along with the 100th anniversary of the City of Lubbock itself. So now we’re aiming at April 2009. Please keep the material coming…
